When first starting a project, or, in my case, a new skill, you need to know what you know and what you don't. In education, we call it establishing a baseline. Below is my baseline.
For a full production of my first attempt, please click here.
** Please note that the music in my production is;
Rampal, J.P., et al. 1995. Concerto for Flute and String Orchestra in G major (V/4): II. Adagio (song). Catalan Flute Music of the 18th Century. Sony Classical (Composer Joan Baptista Pla ca. 1720–1773)
Based on this, there is definitely a need for lessons and skills.

When establishing goals with and for our students, we create S.M.A.R.T. Goals. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. So my goals are;
- Specific -
- Learn 3 watercolour techniques appropriate for landscape.
- Try one complete watercolour other than a landscape.
- Successfully complete one landscape that incorporates more gradient colours, incorporates white space and has been shown to Sharon Yentin, an art major and a friend who will provide honest feedback.
- Measurable
- The three techniques will be documented through photos and/or videos.
- The progress will be documented and shared within this blog.
- Achievable
- The goals are specific even if they are a bit not open-ended. As I am unaware of which techniques are demonstrated when, I cannot be more specific.
- Relevant
- Relevancy within the scope of this project.
- Time-Bound
- I will spend at least two hours per week dabbling in watercolour painting.
- April 6, 2022, the final project and blog post is to be shared.
Let the fun begin!
Nice development of colour/tones. Great start!
